Orthopedic, Total Joint & Postsurgical Rehab
If you’ve had an orthopedic problem, sports injury or orthopedic surgery, including total joint replacement, you likely need rehabilitation. While these are different situations, they each require rehabilitative care to get you back to doing what you love. And at Paula Dillon Mays Therapy Clinics, we take one approach – one that’s careful, individualized and based on proven methods.
Evaluation.
Whether after an injury or surgery, your therapy begins with a complete evaluation. Our skilled therapists dedicate time to this important step. They listen to your concerns and assess all the factors involved in your case, condition and recovery.
But we take a different, more “realistic” approach to evaluating your function. Movement is dynamic and takes place in three dimensions. Also, your body is a “chain,” with each musculoskeletal system interacting with others. So we evaluate in actual functional situations, for example testing your legs while standing rather than sitting on a table. This helps us isolate muscles and joints, assess the entire “chain” and look for your limit (pain, fatigue or weakness).
Planning.
Whether you need to return to the sports arena or are simply looking forward to getting down on the floor with your grandchildren, we develop a program to get you back to your life quickly, completely and safely. We also incorporate your doctor’s objectives and treatment protocols into our own protocols, which are based on therapies that have been proven to get results.
Treatment.
Treatment here at Paula Dillon Mays Therapy Clinics is delivered one-on-one by a highly trained physical therapy professional. Our treatment emphasis is on manual therapy, or “hands-on” therapy, because it works. Your rehabilitation is also functional, recreating actual movement and weight-bearing situations while keeping you clear from pain, weakness and fatigue. At the same time, we strive for the very best outcomes possible... while also making your therapy fun, interactive and productive.
Results.
The outcome of your therapy is what matters most. Because we use therapies known to be successful and focus on real-life function, our results have been great. And we’ll use the same methods to get you past your injury or surgery and back to dancing, tennis, shopping, golf or whatever it is that you love about life.
